UK GS are seeking an experienced Electrical Qualifying Supervisor (EQS) to support our electrical division across Local Authority and Social Housing frameworks.

This role is EQS-biased, with responsibility for ensuring electrical works are technically compliant with BS 7671 and Building Regulations, while also supporting the business through site surveys, supervision of engineers, and technical oversight of installations.

The role will suit someone from a Local Authority / Social Housing background who understands the compliance, documentation, and operational requirements of delivering electrical works within these environments.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Compliance & EQS Duties

  • Act as the Electrical Qualifying Supervisor for the business, ensuring electrical work complies with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant Building Regulations.
  • Provide technical oversight and compliance assurance for electrical installation works.
  • Review and approve Electrical Installation Certificates (EIC), Minor Works Certificates and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR).
  • Ensure appropriate inspection, testing and certification procedures are followed.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant electrical standards, regulations and competent person scheme requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining company electrical compliance procedures and quality standards.

Surveying

  • Carry out technical site surveys across planned works and responsive works programmes.
  • Assess electrical installations and determine scope of works and remedial requirements.
  • Assist with technical reporting, pricing support and work specifications.
  • Identify compliance issues, safety risks and upgrade requirements.

Supervision & Technical Support

  • Provide on-site supervision and support to electricians and engineers.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets required standards.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and apprentices.
  • Support operational teams in resolving technical issues on site.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all electrical works are carried out in line with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Promote safe working practices across site teams.
  • Assist in technical audits and quality assurance checks.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience working as an Electrical Qualifying Supervisor or Senior Electrical Engineer
  • Strong experience within Local Authority or Social Housing frameworks
  • Experience overseeing electrical compliance, inspection and testing
  • Experience conducting technical surveys and site inspections
  • Experience supervising electricians and electrical works

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • AM2
  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2394 & 2395 – Inspection & Testing
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • ECS Gold Card
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • SSSTS or SMSTS
  • Experience supporting framework contracts or planned works programmes
