Job Purpose:

The Bid Writer will be responsible for producing high-quality, compelling bid documents that effectively communicate our value proposition. Working closely with the Bid Manager and cross-functional teams, the Bid Writer will ensure all proposals are clear, persuasive, and compliant with client requirements and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Bid Manager and relevant teams to understand bid requirements and develop tailored content.
  • Write, edit, and proofread bid documents, technical proposals, and supporting materials to a high standard.
  • Ensure all bid content is clear, concise, and compelling, highlighting our strengths and differentiators.
  • Gather information from technical, commercial, and operational teams to inform bid content.
  • Maintain a library of standard responses, case studies, and other relevant content to streamline the bid writing process.
  • Assist in developing win themes and messaging strategies for each bid.
  • Ensure all bid documents are compliant with client specifications, legal standards, and internal quality standards.
  • Support the review and editing process to ensure consistency, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Contribute to post-bid reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future bid quality.
  • Keep track of bid deadlines, progress, and documentation to ensure timely submissions.

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience in bid writing within construction, social housing, public sector, or commercial industries.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and engaging content.
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Good understanding of the UK procurement process and sector-specific terminology.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with bid management software is desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in English, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in bid writing or proposal development is essential.
  • Professional accreditation or training in bid management or proposal writing (e.g., APMP) is a plus.
